Weekend Project: Likelist.ca
March 15, 2012 #software
Update: The source code is available on GitHub.
I’ve launched www.likelist.ca, a simple way to create a public page of everything you’ve liked or favorited online.
Think of it as about.me, but instead of listing your profiles, it shows what you actually like — styled visually like Pinterest.
Whether it's a YouTube video, a tweet, or a starred GitHub repo, LikeList collects and displays it all in one scrollable, shareable place.
What’s Next
Some features I'm planning to add:
- Infinite scrolling for smoother browsing
- Support for more platforms and services
- Click-to-expand images and previews
- User avatars and personalized pages
- Rich media support for linkless tweets
- A quick-start guide for new users
Platform Limitations
A few APIs are still holding things back:
- Facebook requires authentication to access a user’s liked content, which makes public curation tricky.
- Google+ (back when this was relevant) never exposed +1 data via API.
Still, I'm excited about where this can go — and it's open source if you want to contribute or fork your own version.
